'Kill the Bill': A delayed bill shows that protestors are saving the future of protests

Updated: Mar 23, 2021

A bill that could change the way that people protest has been delayed “until after Easter”, showing that protests can work

The proposed Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, introduced on 9 March 2021, could allow police to impose a start and finish time, set noise limits, and apply these rules to a demonstration by one person.

Since the the Bill’s Second Reading, which ended on 16 March, various groups had been protesting against it.

Many protesters aimed their frustrations at Home Secretary Priti Patel, who is attempting to push the bill.
