about
The Update exists to bring you news about politics and current affairs in an exciting, comprehensive way.
We know that, often, the news can be difficult to understand - it’ll assume that you know the context behind something, or use complicated language, or just be straight-up boring. We hope to change that. Through our clear reporting, we aim to help young people form their own views on the world and its happenings.

our team

editor
Olivia is an aspiring Middle Eastern correspondent, passionate about solving the climate crisis and bringing human rights to light. She owns more avocado merch than pairs of shoes, and will often be found running crazy distances at sunrise, her favourite time of day.

features editor
Cat has lived in five countries in the last ten years. She’s interested in international politics and current affairs, especially those of Hong Kong, Eastern Europe, and the US. She’s a fan of Car Seat Headrest, The Strokes, and Taylor Swift in equal measure (though won’t readily admit the latter), and has seen La La Land approximately twelve hundred times.

sub editor
Kani is an aspiring investigative journalist. She’d like to film cool nature documentaries in the future. As Steve Backshall’s biggest fan, she’ll watch Deadly 60 whenever possible. She’s an amateur at pool but pretends to be Mark Selby while playing.

lead designer
Ingunn loves writing about feminist issues, sustainability and everything that has to do with fashion.
Coffee runs in her veins, and she spends all her money on coats and expensive hair products

Amy loves to spend her free time watching movies and eating good food. If she isn’t editing a video, she’s most likely found on a phone call or getting her not-so-white Air Forces ruined on a walk in the park.
